Work StreamsChurches

There are 9 churches in the area who we work with. We help support any existing youth work in the church or provide leadership and resource where it is required. We help run and lead holiday clubs through the summer, contributing to planning, teaching, and the recruitment of volunteers. We also run a follow up event throughout the year, called Okey Dokey, in partnership with the churches to help maintain contact with the young people and their families (around 110 young people) and bring volunteers from different churches together to work as a team. We also run the Bubble Gum and Fluff project and the Easter Code which bring local church volunteers together to go into schools and present the Easter story and the Christmas story in an interactive way.

Holiday Clubs

Each Year we help local churches to run holiday clubs for primary school young people and first to third years. These clubs usually run for a week at some point during the summer Holidays. Like Okey Dokey events, each one has a mix of activities which include, crafts, games, stories, songs and film clips. We aim to:

  • Support local Churches in running these events.
  • Be part of the teams that deliver these events.
  • Provide primary age young people more opportunities to explore the bible and the Christian faith in creative and engaging ways.

Residential Events

Each year we are involved in supporting Scripture Union residential events in two ways:

Support and attend SU Lanarkshire primary and secondary weekends.

  • We advertise these weekends in local school groups and encourage young people to attend.
  • We are part of the team that organise and run both events

Organise and Run KX1 on Arran.

  • KX1 is a week long event on Arran for P5 - S2 young people
  • Our aim is to organise an event with a focus on young people from Cambuslang and Rutherglen with a team of local volunteers.

Aims of our residential events:

  • To ensure that each young person has a really good holiday.
  • To create a temporary Christian community.
  • To give each person on site opportunities to know God better.
