What We Do

Community

Although this is one of our main streams of work, our current commitments in schools and churches have limited how active we can be in the community.

We work in partnership with Particip8 Overton, in particular supporting youth diversion events like community discos. We also are active in planning and supporting the four community events at Christmas, Easter, Summer and Guy Fawkes Night.

Training

We work in partnership with Scripture Union Scotland through their Associate Workers Scheme. This provides access to quality training events and leadership opportunities for the young people we work with. We encourage young leaders to attend the Base Camp training camp run by Scripture Union Scotland which provides training in leadership skills and practical help in leading groups in schools and at holidays. We run our own residential events matching young trainee leaders with experienced leaders to help develop their skills and understanding of leading groups and activities.

Over the last few years Reachout have supported young leaders in attending the Deep Impact conference in Aviemore. Many of the local volunteers also attend this event. Deep Impact is a national children and youth work training conference for workers from all denominations.

We also offer support and training to our current and new volunteers, through regular catch up events. We also support churches with training on an individual basis, so please get in touch if you feel this would be useful to you.
